This website is dedicated to the collaboration of artists and their works utilizing varying themes for the joy of the game. The journey started in 1997 with The Capolan Exchange, and has continued both as Capolan & Traveler’s H’Art.

Capolan is the fictional (though some believe it NOT to be “fictional,”) Vagabond Country created by Nick Bantock. Those unfamiliar with Mr. Bantock’s work, I encourage you to find such books as his Griffin & Sabine trilogy, Windflower and the Capolan gift set.

This is a collaborative exchange group of arts of all imaginings. Its inception began with the common denominator of “resonance” to the artwork and writings of Nick Bantock, and begun in August 1997. Using themes as jumping off points and not “set in stone,” many wonders have been submitted over the years that begged for viewing in the Virtual Gallery. The exchange is open to likeminded artists seeking to expand their talents and find kinship with others. As for the “intangibles” of quality, style, etc, let me say – this is a collection of talented artisans who seek excellence for its own sake as well as for the sake of “exchanging” quality work with others. This is NOT an exchange-based on the mail art idea of “no judgment, no guilt” and minimalism. Though I started the group with the idea of seeking works with a “feel” like Bantock’s yet, infused with the artist’s style, humor, etc. – it has evolved to a more personalized collaborating. Digital manipulations and 2D work are welcomed though the submissions are not confined to such. Over the years an array of collages, hand-bound books, artistamps, structural pieces, jewelry, dolls and fetishes – the whole gamut, have been submitted.
