Thank You, Suzi Blu

Red July 27th, 2010

As mentioned earlier, I took two online classes from the generous, fun lady Suzi Blu. I’m showing the one piece herein, that’s as nearly done as any of the ones I’ve started at this point. The theme of the class was The Tudors, based not only in history but also on the TV series by that name. This is my Princess Elizabeth effort. Princesslizzie2

My travels into the world of “fine art”

Red July 27th, 2010

Erie98Greetings Travelers… As mentioned in my last note, I was engaged in the first half of the year, in online classes that endeavored to teach me drawing/painting skills. Though I have much to learn I think I came a loooong way from where I started. See the pics coming for yourself.

This is where I started in the land of  “drawing” with my son’s face, back in 1998. It’s embarassing to me, but I want to show the changes.

Has it really been that long?

sea-girlGreetings Travelers… Wow, been a long time since I shared on this blog of mine. Let me say it’s NOT for lack of keeping busy learning new, artistic endeavors. AND, my grandbebe, Nova Joy is now a little over a year and a half and what FUN it’s been to do the “gramma” thing.

Let’s see what I’ve been up to: two online classes with Suzi Blu, had me FINALLY learning how to draw faces! I’ve wanted to know how to do that my whole life and I can comfortably say that I now can make a decent rendering. Also, I continue to hone my skills at digital collage (my Pisces girl herein is a recent piece.) What can I say-it’s another addiction for me. I plan in the next weeks to upload more pics, more useful sites I’ve discovered as well as some of the upcoming Travelers H’art collaborations. Keep an eye (or two) out for me.

And the winner for Pasticcio 7 is…

Red November 12th, 2009

Greetings Travelers… I am happy to announce that I organized the drawing tonight for the new issue of Pasticcio (#7) and have a WINNER! Thanks folks, for your fine submissions to the Halloween 2009 game. I like having something special to encourage artists here and in the blogosphere to share their works with us so to that end, I will be having more drawings for “prezzies.”
Without further delay, the winner is…. Marina Lenzino! YEA Marina! And I send a special THANK YOU to those lovely ladies and the editors, Angela Cartwright and Sarah Fishburn, who provided this FABU prize for this round. Thanks!

Halloween Art Wanted! Pasticcio 7 the prize!

Red October 14th, 2009

Happy Halloween!

Greetings Travelers…I’d like you all to help in celebrating the upcoming holiday and Autumnal Season and you just might win an autographed copy (signed by yours truly) of that FAB zine “Pasticcio” Issue 7.
The contest is easy-between now and November 1st, upload to the Photos section one (or more) of your most favored artwork having to do with Halloween or the Autumnal Equinox. I’d encourage you to create something new for this game, but you ARE allowed to upload a piece you have on hand. I plan to start the collection by sharing the artwork I just did for this game to get us started. I’m hoping to have lots of submission so that we all can sit back and be inspired by the works. I plan also to announce this game to other groups and on my blog. When November 1st arrives, I will take the names of the artists who’ve submitted their work to either the Traveler’s H’Art Photos section OR to my BLOG: www.Capolan.org/blog, put them in a scary hat and pull one out at random. THAT artist will receive the current issue of Pasticcio 7, which is loaded with great articles and artwork including the piece I wrote. Let’s see what you can scare up, eh? ;)

Please send your “yea” to my email addy, I’ll be making an elist for players only. I look forward to seeing your efforts in this game. YEA! Fall’s coming! (in MY mind at least…)

Pasticcio #7 is coming!

Red July 17th, 2009

Greetings Travelers… I am happy to announce that Pasticcio #7 is coming soon and with it, my article (and collaborative works) on “The Evolution of an Art Form.” I don’t know if you’ve ever gotten hold of this quality pub but if not, it’s WELL worth it’s cost of $25 and chock full of inspiring photos, articles and just all around KOOL tidbits. Check out previous issues and the upcoming one here: http://www.lulu.com/cartwrightandfishburn. If you DO take advantage of the coolness of Pasticcio, let the editors know where you heard about, k? ;)

Playing with textures in PS CS3

Red June 22nd, 2009

So, OK, I’ve been completely caught up in the fun of learning digital collage art. My newest effort has been to work with the different “filters” and “layers” possibilities. I’m having a lot of fun with this for sure. ;) Play-20

Exquisite Corpse Game is coming

Red June 22nd, 2009

Greetings Travelers… I am finally ready to start planning the Exquisite Corpse game that we’ve been talking about on Travelers H’Art. I’m imagining it will be a flip book RR type of game with each player selecting their subject matter. I’ll be figuring it all out in the next day or two and inviting folks from various egroups I’m on. Just a “heads up” for any checking here. ;)
